Thanks Omar for this cover devoted to the 50th Anniversary of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC in English, OPEP in French). On September 14, 1960, five countries (Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela) met in Baghdad and created the OPEC. Several countries have since joined this organization (including Algeria in 1969) which has today 12 members.
OPEC, which has its headquarters in Vienna since 1965, is led since 2007 by Libyan Secretary General, Abdalla Salem El-Badri.
