Gendarmenmarkt Square in Berlin. La place Gendarmenmarkt à Berlin.

 Dans le cadre des plus beaux panoramas d'Allemagne, la poste allemande a émis le 7 Février 2013 un superbe diptyque de timbres à 0,58€ représentant la Gendarmenmarkt (littéralement la "place du marché des gendarmes"), une place du centre de Berlin, dans le quartier de Mitte. Cette jolie place a la particularité de présenter deux cathédrales : la Deutscher Dom sur le timbre de gauche et la Französischer Dom sur celui de droite. Merci Igor pour ce courrier.

 Thanks Igor for this pair of stamps se-tenant (date of issue, February 7, 2013) depicting the Gendarmenmarkt, a square in Berlin, and the site of the Konzerthaus and the French and German Cathedrals. In the centre of the square is a statue of Germany's poet Friedrich Schiller. The square was created by Johann Arnold Nering at the end of the seventeenth century as the Linden-Markt and reconstructed by Georg Christian Unger in 1773. The Gendarmenmarkt is named after the cuirassier regiment Gens d'Armes, which was deployed at this square until 1773.
