Une carte postale du Bangladesh. A postcard from Bangladesh.

 Un grand merci à Md. Imran pour m'avoir envoyé mon premier courrier venu du Bangladesh. Ce pays,  parfois encore orthographié Bengladesh en français (littéralement "le pays du Bengale") est un pays du sous-continent indien situé au nord du golfe du Bengale. C'est un pays majoritairement musulman, contrairement au Bengale-occidental, une région voisine de l'Inde qui est elle hindouiste. Bien que ce pays n'occupe qu'un peu moins de 150 000 km2 (un peu plus du quart de la France), sa population est de 170 millions d'habitants, ce qui le classe au 8ème rang mondial! La capitale est Dhaka, ou Dacca, agglomération forte de plus de 15 millions d'âmes.

 Thank you so much Md. Imran for sending me this nice postcard from Bangladesh, my first mail from this country! Bangladesh (lit. "The land of Bengal"), is a sovereign country in South Asia. It borders India and Myanmar. It forms the major part of the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal, along with the neighboring Indian states of West Bengal and Tripura. Bangladesh is the world's eighth-most populus country. Dhaka (formerly spelled as Dacca) is the capital and largest city with a population of about 15 million people.

On the left, the Brahminy river turtle (Hardella thurjii) found in the watersheds of the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Indus rivers. The stamp on the right shows us the black pond turtle (Geoclemys hamiltonii) found in Pakistan, north India and of course Bangladesh.
