 Le Kwanzaa est une fête non religieuse des Afro-Américains qui se tient du 26 décembre au 1er janvier. Cette célébration a été créée en 1966 par l'américain Maulana Karenga pour renforcer les liens entre les Noirs d'Amérique et l'Afrique. C'est le sixième timbre émis par la poste américaine (USPS) sur ce sujet après les émissions de 1997, 2004, 2009, 2011 et 2013. Merci Bryon.

 Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration held in the United States and in other nations of the Western African diaspora in the Americas. The celebration honors African heritage in African-American culture, and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a feast and gift-giving. Kwanzaa has seven core principles (Nguzo Saba). It was created by Maulana Karenga and was first celebrated in 1966–67. Thank you Bryon for this 2016 stamp celebrating this feast.

This is the sixth stamp design issued by the U.S. Postal Service in celebration of Kwanzaa. The first Kwanzaa commemorative stamp was issued in 1997. New designs were also issued in 2004, 2009, 2011, and 2013.
