Le 3 Février 2014, au cœur de l'hiver, la poste canadienne a émis trois timbres à 0,63 dollar (alors le tarif d'une lettre de moins de 30 grammes dans le régime intérieur) consacrés à des athlètes féminines de sports d'hiver.
In the dead of winter (February 3, 2014), Canada Post has issued three 0.63$ stamps dedicated to female pioneers of winter sports.
Le timbre de gauche nous présente Sandra Schmirler (1963-2000), championne de curling et médaille d'or aux Jeux Olympiques de Nagano en 1998. Elle mourut prématurément d'un cancer à 36 ans. Au centre, c'est Sarah Burke (1982-2012) qui est honorée. Immense championne de ski freestyle, elle se tua à 29 ans lors d'un entraînement. Enfin, le troisième timbre nous montre Barbara Ann Scott (1928-2012), patineuse artistique qui fut championne du monde et championne olympique en 1948 à Saint-Moritz en Suisse. The stamp on the right shows Sandra Schmirler (1963-2000), a Canadian curler, gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics, who died in 2000 at 36 of cancer. The second stamp features Sandra Burke, a freestyle skier, pioneer of the superpipe event. Burke died following a training accident in Utah. Barbara Ann Scott is depicted on the third stamp. She was a great figure skater and the 1948 Olympic champion in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Thanks Benoît for this cover!
