Célébrités noires aux Etats-Unis. US Black Heritage.

 Voici une enveloppe américaine avec trois timbres "portraits" de la série Black Heritage. Cette série commencée en 1978 nous offre chaque année un timbre consacré à une personnalité noire des USA.

 Le timbre de gauche est vraiment superbe je trouve. C'est un portrait de Oscar Micheaux (1884-1951)  réalisateur et écrivain américain connu comme un des pionniers du cinéma américain. Il réalisa 42 films et chercha sans cesse à promouvoir la culture afro-américaine. Ce timbre à 44 cents, émis le 22 Juin 2010 est l'œuvre de Derry Noyes une artiste qui a dessiné de nombreux timbres américains.

 The very nice stamp on the left, designed by Derry Noyes, is a tribute to Oscar Micheaux. This 33rd stamp in the Black Heritage series honors pioneering filmmaker Oscar Micheaux, who wrote, directed, produced, and distributed more than 40 movies during the first half of the 20th century.

 Le timbre central émis le 11 Juin 2009 présente Anna Julia Cooper (1858-1964), écrivain et érudite de la culture afro-américaine. Inconnue en France, elle obtint pourtant un doctorat à la Sorbonne à Paris en 1924. Elle est morte en 1964, à Washington, à l'âge de 105 ans!

 One year before (June 2009), the Postal Service issued a 44–cent Anna Julia Cooper commemorative stamp, designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland. With the 32nd stamp in its Black Heritage series, the U.S. Postal Service® honors Anna Julia Cooper, an educator, scholar, feminist, and activist who gave voice to the African–American community during the 19th and 20th centuries, from the end of slavery to the beginning of the Civil Rights movement. She died in Washington, D.C. at the age of 105!

  Le troisième timbre nous montre Charles Chesnutt (1858-1932), un écrivain, essayiste et juriste qui explora les questions sociales et raciales après la Guerre de Sécession. En 1926 et 1927, deux de ses livres furent adaptés en film muet par Oscar Micheaux, présent sur notre premier timbre.

 The third stamp shows us Charles Waddell Chesnutt (1858-1932), an american author best known for his novels and short stories exploring complex issues of racial and social identity in the post-Civil War South. Two of his books were adapted as silent films in 1926 and 1927 by the director and producer Oscar Micheaux shown on the first stamp!
